Are bed bugs really a problem in Arizona?
Believe it or not, Bed Bugs are a major problem in Arizona. These little creatures can live months without a blood meal and can travel over 100 feet in the night. The people at the most risk are those that travel the most. Bed bugs are considered a public health pest as defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) because they can cause allergic reactions, and secondary infections and can have negative mental health impacts on people living in infested homes. Because each treatment is customized, this is not included in our standard pest control monthly fee, and would be additional. What is Our Process for Bed Bug Treatment?
First – Inspection
We will perform a property inspection, during which we will locate places on your property where bed bugs are drawn for hiding and breeding, like bed frames, box springs, mattresses, sofas, cracks in walls, outlets, picture frames, etc. After we have identified where they are, then we will identify the species of bed bug. Knowing the species tells us what methods will be effective in treating the infestation. After seeing them, we will also determine the severity of the issue.
Second – Plan
Once we have a full grasp of the infestation, we will create a plan with you to control and eliminate the bed bugs that have been plaguing your property. Each plan will consist of some of the following elements:
- Pesticides and chemical treatment. Depending on the bed bug, we have options of different pesticides to use.
- Heat treatment, where we would increase the heat in the house to over 140 degrees Fahrenheit for several hours, thus killing all of the bed bugs.
- Steam treatment is more targeted and has the potential to leave other areas un-treated, thus leaving the potential for bed bugs that are hiding to remain.
- Physical barriers like mattress encasements
Third – Eliminate
We then schedule the first treatment, which could even be that very same day. Future treatments will also be scheduled at this same time, and we make sure that it will fit with your schedule. Let the elimination begin!
Fourth – Monitor
During our subsequent visits, we check our progress and make the necessary adjustments to ensure proper pest control for your environment. Additional spot treatments may be required during this time and will be completed as needed.
Warranty
Our warranty for bedbugs states that if you experience any further issues regarding bedbugs in the same areas that we had previously serviced within a year after our treatment, we will re-treat free of charge until they have been eradicated.
